SAKHI FOR SOUTH ASIAN WOMEN

Sakhi for South Asian Women is Sigma Sigma Rho's national philanthropy. It is an organization that supports South Asian women who suffered from domestic violence and seeks to empower them and help them regain control over their lives. They advocate to raise awareness and educate communities about domestic violence in a survivor-led movement for gender justice.

Eta chapter hosts a philanthropy week dedicated to Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention in October with events hosted throughout the week. Some events we have hosted in the past include Q&A panels, Soak a Sigma, tabling on locations around our UTK campus, & a movie screening about domestic violence with the Women's Coordinating Council. Eta chapter also hosts percentage nights to fundraise money for our national philanthropy at places like Moe's, Petros, and Salsarita's. Money raised during philanthropy week is automatically donated towards our national philanthropy, Sakhi for South Asian Women, and our local YWCA.

Eta chapter also volunteers at Bristol Race and sets aside 25% of the earnings to be donated to YWCA. Throughout the year, Eta chapter hosts community service events to bring awareness and give back to our community and support our philanthropy like putting together hygiene baskets for the Women's Health Center. As sisters of Sigma Sigma Rho, we strive to raise as much awareness as we can about domestic violence and fight to end the violence. We educate ourselves about domestic violence and would like to spread that awareness to everyone we can. Join us and our stance with the victims of domestic violence.
